Happy 18 Months Carson

Whew...this month has really flown by. We spent most of the month out of town visiting with family. It was so nice to see everyone, but it sure is nice to be back home and get back into our routine. We had a wonderful Christmas and we hope that you did too.

Today, Matt and I took him to his 18 month appointment. Carson is 30 1/2 inches tall and 23 lbs. He is still in the 20th percentile for height and weight! He had to get one shot today (Hep A). He did so good. He only cried for a few seconds and then all he wanted was his snack. However, he did not forget what the nurse had done to him..he kept pointing to his bandied.

Here are some of the things that have taken place in the last month:

New words include the following: apple, yes sir, stop, sweet dreams, blue berries, more please, thank you, oh wow, mess, Bible, slide, excuse me, me and crunchy.

Carson recognizes and can tell you these foods: cheese, broccoli, peas, tomato, corn turkey, bread, crackers, milk, bananas and blue berries.

Before Christmas, Carsons favorite toy was his 'hello' in other words, his phone. I think he had about three of them during the Christmas holidays.

During the Christmas holidays, Matt's mom and I went into a store that had a nativity set out on display. I pointed out baby Jesus to Carson and he said, "baby night night." Now, every time we say, "baby Jesus" the first words out of his mouth are, "night, night." I guess he thinks that baby Jesus is always night night. It is so sweet.

Now, his favorite toy would be my measuring cups and spoons. You would think out of all the new toys he just got that he would play with those. Go figure.

He is starting to say two words together to form a sentence. Ex. More please.

His favorite word right now is 'mama.'

When he gets in trouble we ask him to say 'sorry.' It is so sweet because he will come up to you and gently rub your face. That is his way of saying sorry.

When we say, "no no" Carson will hold his hand out and act like he is giving himself a spanking or pretend to spank his own leg.

When Carson falls down we say, "safe."

Carson is learning how to shake hands with others. It is so cute!

Carson no longer has a pacifier! We went cold turkey and he has done great. We just lay him down in his bed and say, "Night, night Carson. Sweet dreams. We love you. See you in the morning" and he lays down and most of the time goes right to sleep.

Carson would wake up at different times each morning and I would always go and get him whenever he would wake up. Now, he stays in his bed until at least seven. It has been so nice to get a few more minutes of sleep each morning.

Over the past few weeks, we have taken lots of pictures. Now, every time a camera or a phone is within Carson's line of sight he automatically says "cheese." It is so cute.

He loves drinking out of his new sippy cup with a straw.

He has tried cucumbers, which he calls crunchy, and greens. He isn't a big fan of greens.

Knows all the motions to "If You Are Happy And You Know It" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider."

Loves to shout Bible at the end of the "B-I-B-L-E" song.

Covers his mouth when he coughs.

He is learning the letters A, B and C.

He is learning to use a napkin in his lap while eating.

To this day, Carson still does not like any covers to be over him.

If you ask him a question and say Carson say yes or no, then he will say "no", but if you ask him the same question and say Carson say no or yes, then he will say "yes."

Carson is enjoying all of his new toys that he received for Christmas. We are so blessed to have so many people that care and love our sweet little boy.

For my records I wanted to keep a list of all the toys he received for Christmas. Please forgive me if I didn't include them all.
